Description

Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black is a carbon fiber reinforced engineering filament for harsh outdoor conditions, large functional parts and demanding technical applications. It combines the UV and weather resistance of ASA with carbon fiber, so it delivers greater stiffness, stronger dimensional stability and a refined matte finish.

Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black engineering filament

This is not a general-purpose filament for casual printing. Instead, it targets advanced users, engineers, workshops and professionals in Cyprus who need strong, stable and weather-resistant parts for real-world use.

Why Choose Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black

Bambu Lab ASA-CF serves projects where ordinary PLA or PETG fall short. Because it combines ASA with carbon fiber, it increases stiffness, reduces warping and improves dimensional stability for technical parts that demand accuracy and strength.

As a result, engineers and advanced makers can use it for outdoor equipment, structural components and large prints that must hold their shape over time.

Outdoor Durability and UV Resistance

ASA-CF stands out because it handles outdoor use extremely well. It resists UV exposure and harsh weather, so it works well for garden tools, outdoor furniture parts, protective electronic enclosures and other components that face sun, wind and changing temperatures.

Therefore, if you need a carbon fiber filament for outdoor use in Cyprus, ASA-CF is one of the strongest engineering materials to consider. In addition, it gives you better long-term performance than many standard consumer filaments.

Outdoor durability of ASA-CF filament

High Stiffness for Load-Bearing Parts

Bambu Lab states that ASA-CF delivers 67% more stiffness than standard ASA, with a bending modulus of 3740 MPa compared with 1920 MPa for regular ASA. That extra rigidity helps parts resist bending under load.

Consequently, designers and engineers often choose this material for brackets, structural supports, camping accessories, plant stands, housings and other high-load applications where stiffness matters more than flexibility. Moreover, the added stiffness helps large parts keep their intended geometry.

Better Stability for Large and Precise Prints

Carbon fiber reinforcement reduces warping and improves dimensional stability. For that reason, Bambu Lab recommends ASA-CF for large models and parts that require precision in assembly or technical fitting.

In practical use, this benefit helps users produce large engineering parts that stay more accurate during printing and after cooling. Likewise, it supports projects where small dimensional changes can affect final assembly.

Matte Finish with a Professional Look

In addition to its engineering performance, ASA-CF creates a smooth matte finish with less visible layer lines. This cleaner surface gives printed parts a more professional appearance, so it works especially well for enclosures, visible components and display-quality functional models.

Heat Resistance and Engineering Performance

Bambu Lab lists ASA-CF with a heat deflection temperature of 110°C and a Vicat softening temperature of 108°C. It also reports 72 MPa bending strength and 14.0 kJ/m² impact strength in XY, which makes this material well suited for demanding functional use rather than decorative printing.

Because this filament combines heat resistance, stiffness and outdoor durability, it fits advanced engineering workflows far better than standard consumer materials. As a result, professionals can rely on it for more demanding technical applications.

Recommended Printing Settings

  • Drying: 80 °C for 8 hours
  • Humidity while printing and storing: below 20% RH in a sealed container with desiccant
  • Nozzle temperature: 250–280 °C
  • Bed temperature: 80–100 °C with glue
  • Printing speed: under 250 mm/s
  • Nozzle: hardened steel mandatory
  • Printer: enclosure required

Furthermore, Bambu Lab warns that carbon fiber makes the filament more brittle than normal ASA, so users should avoid excessive bending before printing. It also recommends good ventilation because ASA-like materials can release odors during printing.

Best Uses for Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black

  • Outdoor brackets and fixtures
  • Protective enclosures for electronics
  • Garden tools and outdoor accessories
  • Large assembly parts requiring dimensional stability
  • Camping accessories and structural supports
  • Plant stands and outdoor furniture components

These applications fit the material because it focuses on stiffness, outdoor durability and accurate large-part printing, not on flexibility or beginner-friendly handling. For example, engineers can use it for outdoor housings, structural supports and technical fixtures that must stay stable over time.

FAQ About Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black

Is ASA-CF suitable for beginners?
No. This engineering material requires an enclosed printer, dry filament and a hardened steel nozzle, so it suits advanced users and professional applications much better.

Why choose ASA-CF instead of standard ASA?
ASA-CF offers much higher stiffness and better dimensional stability. Therefore, users often choose it for large technical parts and load-bearing components.

Is Bambu Lab ASA-CF good for outdoor use?
Yes. It is designed for outdoor durability and UV resistance, which makes it suitable for weather-exposed functional parts.

Do I need a hardened nozzle for ASA-CF?
Yes. Bambu Lab specifies a hardened steel nozzle as mandatory because carbon fiber is abrasive.

Is Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black available in Cyprus?
Yes. This product is available for engineering and professional 3D printing users across Cyprus.

Printing Tips

Printing Tips

1. Dry before use for higher printing quality.

  • In a blast drying oven: 80°C for 8 hours.
  • On an X1 printer’s heatbed: 90°C to 100°C for 12 hours.

2. Carbon fiber makes ASA-CF more brittle compared to normal ASA. Please avoid excessive bending to prevent filament breakage.

3. Tips to increase dimensional stability:

4. High heatbed temperatures and glue stick can cause strong adhesion between the print and the build plate. Please allow the print to cool down to room temperature naturally for easier removal and to avoid damage to the model. For more details, please refer to: Work After Printing Finished on WIKI.

5. Similar to ASA, odors may be released during printing. Make sure your printer is placed in a well-ventilated area and use enclosed printers.
