Description

Colour That Flows Through the Print

Silk Gradient South Beach – Bambu’s Multi-Colour Silk Filament

Silk Gradient South Beach from Bambu Lab shifts smoothly through 2 to 4 silk-finish colours within a single spool, so the transition builds naturally as a model prints.

So instead of changing filaments manually, you get a flowing, multi-tone effect that runs straight through the piece.

Bambu PLA Silk Multi Colour

Flowing Colour Transitions

Since the colour shift runs along the length of the filament, each print reveals its own gradual transition.

Silk, High-Gloss Finish

It keeps the same glossy, silky surface as the rest of the Silk range.

Reusable Spool Included

It comes on a Basic Reusable Spool, so it’s ready for refills once the roll runs out.

RFID for AMS

Printing parameters are embedded in RFID, and the AMS reads them automatically.

Not the Same as Dual Color

What Makes Silk Gradient Different

Bambu’s PLA Silk Multi-Color range includes two distinct styles. Dual Color blends two hues into one strand, so the visible colour shifts depending on the angle you view the print from. Silk Gradient works differently — it flows through 2 to 4 colours along the length of the filament itself, so the transition appears as the print builds up in height, rather than by rotating it.

Because of that, Silk Gradient South Beach suits larger models best, since more filament consumption reveals a fuller, more noticeable transition.

How Much Filament You Need for the Full Effect

Since the gradient effect depends on how much filament a print uses, larger models naturally show more of the transition than smaller ones. You can also influence this by adjusting sparse infill density, print quantity, or where the spool starts from.

  • Each colour segment spans approximately 20m (65g+)
  • Using 40m (125g+) of filament guarantees at least one two-colour transition
  • For a full four-colour transition, 80m (250g+) or more ensures the complete effect

RFID Support for Automatic AMS Settings

RFID embeds all the printing parameters for Silk Gradient South Beach, so the AMS reads them automatically as soon as you load the spool.

  • Compatible with AMS 2 Pro
  • Compatible with AMS HT
  • Compatible with AMS lite
  • Automatic material recognition

Best Uses for Silk Gradient South Beach

Since the gradient shows best on models with more height or filament use, it suits taller and larger prints particularly well.

Printing and Drying Tips

Printing Tips

  • For the best colour transition and gloss, we recommend reducing outer wall speed to 40 mm/s
  • Because A-series printers carry a higher risk of filament rotation due to their structure, we don’t recommend using this filament on them — otherwise colour transitions can come out uneven

Drying Recommendations

We dry and vacuum-seal this filament before shipping. However, transport conditions can still affect moisture levels along the way.

  • Dry it immediately after opening, then store it in a sealed container with desiccant or in the AMS
  • Repeat drying and moisture-proofing before each long-term storage period
  • Dry it before use for the best print quality and a consistent finish

Silk Gradient South Beach FAQ

Is this the same as PLA Silk Dual Color?

No. Dual Color shifts colour depending on the viewing angle, while Gradient flows through 2 to 4 colours along the length of the print as it builds up. They’re two different styles within Bambu’s Silk Multi-Color range.

Will small prints show the full gradient effect?

Not always. Since the effect depends on how much filament a print uses, smaller models may only show part of the transition, while larger ones reveal more of it.

How much filament do I need for a full four-colour transition?

Around 80m (250g+) of filament ensures the complete four-colour effect, while 40m (125g+) guarantees at least one two-colour transition.

Is it compatible with the AMS?

Yes, it’s compatible with AMS, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT and AMS lite, with RFID for automatic material recognition.

Can I use it on an A-series printer?

Use on A-series printers isn’t recommended, since their structure carries a higher risk of filament rotation and uneven colour transitions.

What print speed gives the best result?

We recommend slowing the outer wall speed to 40 mm/s, since that gives the best gloss and colour transition.

Is Silk Gradient South Beach available in Cyprus?

Yes, The 3D Factory stocks it, since we’re Cyprus’s official Bambu Lab reseller and deliver across the island.
